Adult Basic Skills 1-6 Wednesday 5:15 pm starting 3/7/2018

The Adult curriculum is designed for the beginner adult skater.  It will promote physical fitness and improve balance and coordination while teaching proper skating techniques.  Divided into six levels, adult skaters will progress at an individual rate while being challenged and motivated.   For skaters 17 and up.

Basic Skills 1 Wednesday 5:15pm starting 3/7/2018

The Basic Skills are the fundamentals of the sport.  Skaters who have never taken lessons before will begin in the Basic 1 level.  The six levels of the Basic Skills program introduce the fundamental moves: forward skating, backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, turns.  Upon completion of the Basic 1-6 levels, skaters will have a basic knowledge of the sport enabling them to advance to more specialized areas of skating.  After completing each level, skaters will progress to the subsequent levels.  For skaters age 6-16.

This is an 6 week session with our special winter showcase performance on the last day of class. The cost for this session is different then our normal session in that it is $98 for the session regardless of registration time. Additional fees may apply for costumes, though we will try to keep the cost down as much as possible.   Anyone not interested in performing please let me know.

The Free Skate levels are designed to give skaters a strong foundation on which to build their skills. This is the point where the skater can choose whether to pursue a Recreational or competitive approach to the sport of skating. Participants must have completed Basic Skills 6 & Pre Free Skate to take this class. 

Free Skate 3 Wednesday 5:15pm starting 3/7/2018

Each Free Skate level is divided into four sections, moves in the field, spins, dance/footwork sections, jumps. The Free Skate levels are designed to give skaters a strong foundation on which to build their skills. The Hockey skating curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating.  Skater will learn how to maneuver faster and be more agile on the ice.  Proper skating techniques are the primary focus of the levels.  All elements will be taught without a stick or puck.  Skaters will learn the fundamentals of skating to become successful hockey skaters.    Completing Snowplow Sam 1-4 or Basic 1 is recommended. 

Hockey 2 Wednesday 5:15pm starting 3/7/2018

SMS Hockey Clinic # 1 starting 3/13/2018

The South Metro Sportsplex Hockey Prep Clinics will focus on the enhancement of on-ice skills as well as the implementation of off-ice training to assist athletes in maintaining the strength, speed and skills gained during their hockey season. Our goal is to prepare athletes for upcoming tryouts by leading them through structured and effective training sessions. 

BREAKDOWN

Each Clinic will consist of 6 (2.5 hour) sessions:

9 hours of on-ice & 4.5 hours of off-ice

TIME 

5:30-8pm

Off-Ice Training (PEC) 5:30pm-6:15pm

On-Ice Training 6:30pm-8:00pm
